Vertical Electrophroesis Systems

The separation of macromolecules in an electric field is called electrophoresis. SDS-PAGE stands for sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis(PAGE) and is useful for molecular weight analysis of proteins. SDS is a detergent that dissociates and unfolds oligomeric proteins into its subunits. The SDS binds to the polypeptides to form complexes with fairly constant charge to mass ratios. The electrophoretic migration rate through a gel is therefore determined only by the size of the complexes. Molecular weights are determined by simultaneously running marker proteins of known molecular weight.

Protein separation by SDS-PAGE is used to determine the relative abundance of major proteins in a sample, their approximate molecular weights, and in what fractions they can be found. The purity of protein samples can be assessed.

MEDOX-BIO Vertical Gel Systems are designed to suit various applications related to Protein separation in laboratories. These computer-designed systems are made out of well-polished and clear Plexiglass sheets fused together by using high-strength solvent adhesives. Our strict Quality control measures ensure the unit is leak-proof and withstand heat generated due to high voltage and longer running time.

Every Vertical Gel System is fitted with spirit-level indicator and there are clear markings to indicate Buffer level in both the lower and upper tanks.

The system is complete and supplied with all accessories required to run the gel.
